Build Educator Ownership, Leadership and Capacity Highlander Institute

Highlander Institute

Highlander Institute operates in dynamic collaboration with its sister organization, Highlander Charter School, to design and provide research-based, quality educational services that are accessible to all learners, as well as their teachers and families. Institute services are directed at both students and educators, and are focused on helping students gain ground in language, reading, and math through ‘arms of service’ that include Blended Learning, Expanded Learning, and Diverse Learners. Using innovative education practices as a catalyst for social change, Highlander Institute is working to ensure that all children have the educational opportunities and support they need to achieve their full potential.

Project Description

This grant funding will continue to help the Highlander Institute to recruit and train a group of passionate and innovative Cohort 5 Fuse Fellows. Fuse Fellows are change agents for their schools and advance the field through their own leadership and instructional innovation. During the program, Fuse Fellows will be partnered with another school (separate from the one they work in) for up to 2 years, during which they will assess readiness, coach other teachers, and help disseminate best practices based on each school’s specific needs. A major portion of the program involves the coaching of early adopter teachers by the school district’s assigned Fuse Fellow.
