Project Description
The New England Secondary School Consortium (NESSC) is a regional support initiative that organizes and supports the five states of Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont to undertake coordinated actions in the pursuit of common, agreed-upon goals. Although the five member states employ similar reform strategies, each state has been developing, and will continue to develop, a comprehensive secondary-school improvement plan that is customized to meet the specific needs and contexts within each state.

The five partner states of Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont believe that a bold vision, shared goals, and innovative strategies will empower educators to close persistent achievement gaps, promote greater educational equity and opportunity for all students, and lead educators into a new era of secondary schooling.

Maine School Administrative District #60
Located in York County, the towns of North Berwick, Berwick, and Lebanon comprise Maine School Administrative District #60 (MSAD #60) with a combined population of just over 15,000. This large, regional school district serves 3,500 students; about 1,000 of these attend Noble High School in North Berwick.

Project Description
MSAD #60 worked with Great Schools Partnership to develop a plan for building their capacity for shared leadership and decision making within the district and community. They also developed clear community messages to build and sustain public demand for district level systems change.
