Lucas Codognolla joined the Foundation in 2020.
Previously, Lucas served as the Executive Director of Connecticut Students for a Dream (C4D),
a youth-led, statewide network fighting for the rights of undocumented youth and their families. As the founding Executive Director, Lucas was responsible for the organization’s overall strategic and operational capacity, fundraised for and managed the organization’s
operating budget, and provided visionary leadership in collaboration with membership to develop advocacy campaigns on broad political priorities.
Under his leadership, C4D became the largest youth organizing group in Connecticut, winning
numerous issues-based advocacy campaigns that resulted in educational equity policy
change both at the institutional and legislative levels. As a community organizer at heart, Lucas is a relationship-builder and passionate about using his positionality to leverage resources for and with communities of color.
Lucas is a trustee of the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund and has also served as Vice
Chair on the Board of Directors of United We Dream.
Born and raised in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Lucas and his family immigrated to the United States
in 2000 when he was nine years old. Through his advocacy, Lucas became a recognized undocumented leader in the immigrant youth movement both in the state of Connecticut and nationally.
Lucas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Connecticut.
