Lucas Orwig joined the Nellie Mae Education Foundation as a Program Associate in 2010. He served as an Associated Grant Makers (AGM) Diversity Fellow for the Foundation from 2009 until 2010, supporting senior program officers in the administration and processing of grants.
Previously, Lucas served as a mentor for Friends of the Children – Boston, where he advocated for vulnerable children, helping them develop essential life skills. Through the AmeriCorps VISTA program, Lucas worked as a Life Skills and Mentoring Coordinator for the Bird Street Community Center, where he organized, managed, and developed best practices and evaluation procedures for a volunteer mentoring program.
Lucas is a trained youth worker, and has earned credentials from the BEST Collaborative and from Achieve Boston’s School Age and Youth Development program. He holds a B.A. in comparative literature and religious studies from Brown University.
